TGSC’s Education Committee maps CMAA’s 11 Core Competencies across the year—one focus area per month—giving members a clear roadmap for continuous learning and CMI accumulation. The calendar concludes with a Member Interest Group (MIG) Series for specialty topics. “Mega Months,” such as August, offer concentrated sessions, enabling members to earn up to five CMIs in a single month. Nearly 80 webinars are offered annually at no cost to members; aside from the MD team’s time and the Zoom fee, there are no additional expenses. Ninety-five percent of speakers volunteer their time, enabling TGSC to deliver high-quality education year-round with minimal budget impact.

Implementation

  • Annual Mapping: The Education Committee met to establish the yearly education calendar, assigning each month to one CMAA Core Competency for balanced coverage
  • Speaker Selection: Committee members identified potential speakers from their own networks, reviewed survey feedback for topic and presenter suggestions, and extended personal invitations
  • Member-Driven Approach: Incorporating member input ensured relevant topics and high engagement from the start
  • Credit Maximization: Clustered sessions in “Mega Months” to boost CMI totals
  • Low-Cost Delivery: Complimentary webinars with primarily volunteer speakers
  • Reaction: Members value predictability and the ability to plan education goals; attendance is strong, ranging from 25-75 during each webinar session!
