The COVID-19 pandemic turned CMAA on its head. Due to the travel restrictions in place and safety concerns for large group gatherings, in 2021 CMAA held its World Conference virtually. Additionally, that year, the Club Industry as a whole was awarded the Club Executive of the Year award in recognition of the innovation and resilience displayed in times of challenge and hardship.
