In 1957, CMAA's National Headquarters moved to Washington, DC, in order to be close to the decision makers in government. The new address? 1028 Connecticut Ave. From our 75th Anniversary book: "From the very start in Chicago in 1927, CMAA headquarters had been generally located in the office of the president of the association for that year. Responsibilities and time commitment we but part-time endeavors, so the headquarters assumed nomad status and moved with the presidency. In 1938 a formal headquarters location was found at the Cincinnati Country Club. Following WWII the CMAA board felt the organization deserved a truly stand-alone, professional office location. In 1949 the CMAA headquarters was centered in St. Louis in the same building at the offices of Club Management magazine.... The maturing of CMAA by 1957 brought the association into the big leagues of similar national groups. From that time on, headquarters would never leave the nation's capital area."
