In 1962, the World Conference was held in Miami Beach, FL. In an event that typifies the dynamic nature of club management, the evening luau on the beach was rained out by a storm. "The hotel did not have the facilities to reset the party indoors but made a valiant effort....Instead of using banquet tables, the hotel erected meeting room tables which were 18 inches wide and six feet long. These tables were set to accommodate eight people each. This was truly a convention for fellowship. Under these conditions, everyone got to know everyone else on a very personal and intimate basis... they weathered the storm as best they could..."
