Hawaii has been a favorite CMAA destination for decades. In 1963, CMAA planned for their very first Hawaii Conference. This was a time of hopefulness. From CMAA's 50th Anniversary book: "As 1963 ended and the beginning of 1964 was heralded in with the Club Managers Conference in Hawaii, signs of optimism emanated from the annual town club roundtables.... Thre was a general feeling that club managers were more fully informed and more capable than ever before of leading personnel and membership through changing trends."
