Idea Fair

A Premier, Scalable Team-Based Tennis Experience

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Glenmoor Davis Cup is a premier, team-based tennis event inspired by the international Davis Cup format on the professional tour and designed to foster excitement, inclusivity, and strong member engagement. Teams compete in a structured series of Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles matches, with each match contributing one point toward the overall team total, and the team with the most wins crowned Glenmoor Davis Cup Champion.

A defining feature of the event is its captain-led format. Our tennis leadership, Alex and Hector, serve as team captains, actively coaching, motivating, and strategizing with their players during live matches. This gives members real-time access to professional coaching in a competitive setting, elevating the experience beyond a traditional tournament or social mixer. The team-based, themed structure creates strong emotional buy-in, while facility branding and décor enhance visibility and perceived value. The Davis Cup model has proven to be repeatable, adaptable, and impactful across club demographics, with the captain-led coaching element further differentiating the event and strengthening engagement between members and key tennis staff.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Players were grouped by ability level to create fair and competitive matchups, with the Director of Tennis and Head Racquets Professional designated as team captains. Throughout the event, captains provided live coaching, strategic input, and player support during matches, reinforcing the captain-led structure that defined the experience. Strong team identity was established through Spain versus USA branding, with the facility decorated in national flags throughout the event week to build excitement and anticipation.

The Glenmoor Davis Cup has since become one of the most anticipated tennis events on the club’s annual calendar. It elevated the member experience through in-match coaching from club leadership, increased participation across a broader demographic of tennis players, and encouraged interaction among members of different skill levels and social circles. The format also created a spectator-friendly environment that showcased high-level tennis while strengthening members’ connection to the racquets program and the club’s overall culture.
