A Smarter Way to Renovate
Winner
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The 27 West Bar Renovation enhanced club operations by improving both how the space functions and how it is experienced, beginning with a more welcoming and impactful arrival. Enhancements to the entrance established a stronger sense of ambiance and immediately drew members into the space, reinforcing 27 West as a central social hub.
Within the existing footprint, the renovation refined bar flow and accessibility while incorporating a new private dining room, allowing the space to support everyday dining, social gatherings, and private events. By prioritizing arrival experience, flexibility, and service flow—rather than a full structural rebuild—the Club strengthened efficiency, expanded usability, and extended the longevity of a high-use space. This approach demonstrates how clubs can achieve meaningful operational improvements through targeted, strategic renovations that are scalable and adaptable.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Implementation focused on thoughtful planning and selective interior updates that addressed real operational needs while minimizing disruption. Improvements were intentionally designed to enhance flow, ambiance, and flexibility without removing the space from service for an extended period.
In tandem with the renovation, the Club introduced a refreshed bar and dining menu and provided focused staff training to ensure service standards aligned with the enhanced space. Members responded very positively, noting the immediate impact of the improved entrance, the comfort and energy of the bar, and the value of the new private dining room. The success of the project highlights a practical, replicable model for clubs seeking to elevate high-traffic social spaces by aligning design decisions with member behavior and operational priorities.
