Idea Fair

Annual Employee-Member Golf Tournament

Winner

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Our team of Golf Professionals puts the teams together, along with some help from the General Manager to ensure that it is a fair and fun match-up.

Before golf, everyone meets for a continental breakfast in our 19th hole dining area. The format is a 9-hole fun scramble shotgun. For some added fun, we also call this the Superintendent’s Revenge for the pin and tee placements. It makes it a bit more interesting.

After golf, everyone meets at the Clubhouse for a BBQ lunch. The teams sit together so there is a nice mix of members and employees.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

We publicize this tournament to our members, as well as our employees and encourage them to participate.

This tournament is a great way for our employees to interact with our members and get to know them on a more personal level. It creates a sense that we are all one and both equally love our golf course. Many of our employees are good golfers, which makes it more fun because the members hope to get them on their team, which makes the employee feel good.

We have been doing this for three years now and it grows more popular every year. Both our members and employees look forward to this rewarding event!
