How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Group fitness is usually the most exciting part of a fitness center, but there aren’t many options for fitness classes directed towards our senior members. We initiated our Balanced Bodies & Brains class specifically formatted to fit the needs of seniors to increase strength, flexibility, endurance, while lowering fear of falling.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

This 45-minute class incorporates muscle strengthening, practicing all types of balance postures and we have now added learning how to get off the floor without assistance. This is our fifth year of teaching this class and it has led to a Dynamic Balance Class for our younger members and athletes.

Due to member demand we now offer a five (5) senior classes per week. The fitness instructor works to strengthen their brains just as she does with their muscles. Results have been extraordinary. The class is consistently attended and we anticipate extending it.
