Business Unit Review
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Business Unit Reviews were created at MPCC as an opportunity for managers to discuss their department with the board in a comprehensive manner that provides a well-rounded glance into the operation. Current budgets, membership satisfaction and future plans are just some of the topics discussed during the review. The Business Unit Reviews have allowed the department heads, considered ‘experts’ in their respective fields, to educate the board members on best practices and industry trends pertaining to their department, which has enhanced overall membership experience.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Throughout the year, each department will have the opportunity to present their Review at a Board Meeting. Thus far the Fitness Department, Golf and Greens Department, and the Food and Beverage Department have given presentations, and the reaction has been very positive. The board is excited to review each department as an individual business, and they enjoy the interactive presentation manner. The Business Unit Reviews have enhanced the greater understanding of the club operations for the board members and allowed them to gain in depth knowledge as it pertains to each of the departments that make up the club as a whole. This process has created a Board of active supporters as opposed to individuals that were neutral or could be considered detractors, because they have greater insight into the operation. Now outside of the Board meeting, they are active supporters of Club initiatives in social settings amongst their friends who may not be involved in club governance.
