Idea Fair

Caddy Fundraising Initiative

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The idea for the fundraiser emerged following the closure of our golf course this past September. At Charlotte Country Club, we proudly uphold the tradition of utilizing golf caddies, many of whom are long-tenured and deeply valued members of our community. Our members have developed strong relationships with these caddies, and when the course closed, they became concerned about the impact it would have on them.

In response, a group of members came together to organize fundraising efforts in support of the caddy program. These initiatives included a wine dinner and a golf tournament. Through these events, members raised more than $70,000 to help support our caddies during the course closure.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Like many caddy programs, our caddies rely heavily on the generosity of our membership for their income. As a result, a year-long golf course closure would have had a significant impact on their livelihoods. Our members deeply value the relationships they have built with our caddies and wanted to ensure they were supported during the closure so they could return when the course reopens this fall.

Through these fundraising initiatives, our caddies received financial support for themselves and their families throughout the closure. This support ensures they can return to the course and continue fostering strong bonds not only with our current members, but with future members as well.
