CCV Memories: Where History Meets Storytelling

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

To mark the 50th anniversary of hosting the U.S. Amateur Championship at one of our courses, we launched a special “CCV Memories” spread in our monthly newsletter.

The feature used historical storytelling as a way to strengthen member connection and pride, and the dedicated spread created a model for celebrating Club history in a meaningful, engaging way.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

We interviewed the 1975 U.S. Amateur Champion, Fred Ridley, as well as a longtime CCV member who caddied during the event. Our goal was to capture personal recollections to honor both the history and the heart behind the milestone. Members responded with enthusiasm, sharing how meaningful it was to revisit this chapter of Club history. The feature proved that weaving historical storytelling into a newsletter can deepen member engagement, bring the Club’s legacy to life, and be used in the future to spotlight more of the CCV story.
