Idea Fair

CCV Swim School

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

For years, the Club offered private swim lessons and Swim Team, but there was a clear gap for children who could swim independently yet were not quite ready—by age or skill level—for Swim Team. To address this need, the Aquatics Department introduced CCV Swim School, a development-focused program designed to bridge the gap between basic swim skills and team participation.

Swim School provides instruction in a team-based environment, allowing swimmers to progress through levels alongside their peers while building confidence, endurance, and stroke fundamentals. By creating a clear pathway from Swim School to Mini Mites to Swim Team, the program supports long-term swimmer development and strengthens the Club’s overall aquatics pipeline.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The Aquatics Department developed Swim School during the offseason, preparing staff and communicating the new offering ahead of the 2025 summer season. The program was designed to allow swimmers to progress as a group, with coaches evaluating participants throughout each session rather than relying on a single assessment.

Member response was very positive. Families appreciated having a long-requested option for children who were eager to participate in group swimming but not yet ready for Swim Team. As a result of Swim School, the Club saw increased participation in private swim lessons and growing interest in Swim Team for the following season. In its first summer, Swim School served 60 swimmers in June and 38 in July, with more than 80% able to advance to Swim Team without a spring assessment. The department plans to continue expanding the development pathway, including the potential addition of a Stroke School option in the future.
