Create a contest to connect “back-of-the-house” staff with members, increase member engagement in a fun, COVID-19 safe way, and enhance membership value during an uncertain time.
How was this idea implemented and what have been the club members' reactions?
- Our chefs submitted their best chili recipe and prepared 8-10 gallons to be sold.
- We hosted a “mini” event by setting up a sampling station and allowing members to taste test, vote for their favorite, and purchase chili to go.
- The winning chef received a gift card, a trophy to display in his dining outlet, and eternal bragging rights.
Results: $500 in chili sales in one night, 54 gallons and $2,592 in total. The popularity of the event has led to more, including a soup cook-off and a bartender shake-off.
