Idea Fair

Content Creation Camp

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Like many clubs, engaging children past the age of 10 can be difficult for programming. After spending an afternoon with a group of tweens who wanted to help film a reel for the club, we realized that meeting them where they were was the best way to target that audience.

Content Creation Camp allowed tweens with an interest in content creation to practice their skills during a dedicated time with new equipment and instruction. Frankly, we learned a thing or two from them as well! The camp sold out in the first year and will certainly come back as a summer staple.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Our best compliment was from a parent who said it was the first time their camper ever gave them details about their day at camp, instead of a "it was fine" comment from the backset. Parents said it was a great change from standard summer camps and they were glad to see that the children were learning new skills and getting to use their brains during the summer!
