Idea Fair
Cooking Camp
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
This hands-on summer camp brought the kitchens of Farmington to life for tween and teen members. Fully booked with 12 participants, the camp blended culinary creativity with classic summer fun. Each morning, campers tackled a new cooking challenge—making everything from tortillas and tacos to homemade pizza dough, pancakes, and gourmet grilled cheese—before heading to the pool in the afternoon. Working in teams of four, they were judged on creativity, quality, presentation, and teamwork, promoting collaboration and confidence in the kitchen
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The program was a hit with both campers and parents. Kids were eager to return each day, excited for new challenges and the chance to eat what they created. Parents appreciated the hands-on learning, teamwork, and screen-free time. Staff enjoyed seeing the kids gain skills and confidence, and found joy in leading a unique, fast-paced camp that brought energy to the kitchen in a whole new way. Young Chefs Cooking Camp is now one of the most popular specialty camps on the summer calendar.
