Countdown to a New Clubhouse: A Creative Way to Launch Construction
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Ahead of a capital project and with one of our clubhouses scheduled to close for renovation, we used intentional programming to mark the moment and launch construction.
By hosting a celebratory event in the space’s final hours, the Club was able to acknowledge the closure, provide a positive experience for members, and help set the tone for the renovation period ahead. This approach allowed the Club to proactively address potential construction fatigue and build excitement and goodwill around a significant capital project.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The full-scale New Year’s Eve celebration featured live music, elevated food and beverage offerings, and a fireworks display—the first ever held for members at that location for our Club. The event sold out and served as a meaningful farewell to the clubhouse in its pre-renovation form.
Member response was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the opportunity to gather and celebrate in the space one last time, and many expressed excitement and optimism about the upcoming renovation. The success of the event confirmed the value of using special programming to introduce major projects in a positive, engaging way.
