Cowgirl Camp: A Women-Only Winter Programming Model
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Cowgirl Camp is a women-only winter programming model designed to increase seasonal engagement, participation, and community connection during traditionally lower-activity months. By combining optional outdoor activities with wellness offerings, leadership-driven conversation, and intentional social programming, the model lowers barriers to participation and creates an inclusive environment for women of varying interests, comfort levels, and abilities.
Operationally, the program was developed to activate multiple departments, including recreation, wellness, food and beverage, and marketing, while delivering a cohesive, high-impact weekend experience. The flexible structure allows participants to self-select how they engage, supporting broader participation and comfort across offerings. The program sold out in its first year, demonstrating strong demand and validating the model’s relevance and appeal.
Beyond registration metrics, Cowgirl Camp was designed to strengthen peer connection among members and expand winter programming in a way that feels intentional, repeatable, and scalable. The model can be adapted across club types, seasons, and amenities, making it a transferable framework for clubs seeking to enhance engagement, inclusivity, and overall member experience.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Cowgirl Camp was implemented through cross-department collaboration, with planning support from recreation, wellness, food and beverage, and marketing teams. The program was intentionally designed as a flexible, opt-in experience rather than a fixed schedule, allowing members to engage at their own pace and according to personal interests. Registration was capped to preserve experience quality, and communication focused on inclusivity, accessibility, and choice.
Marketing emphasized the concept rather than a detailed itinerary, positioning the weekend as a women-only experience centered on connection, wellness, and optional winter activity. This approach helped set expectations, reduce hesitation around skill level, and encourage participation from members who may not typically engage in winter programming.
Member response prior to the event has been overwhelmingly positive. The program sold out in its first year, demonstrating strong demand and validating the model’s appeal. Interest has been particularly strong across wellness, social, and optional activity offerings. The program has also activated strong guest participation through member invitations, creating natural opportunities for prospect exposure and potential new member generation. Based on early engagement and registration response, Cowgirl Camp is positioned as a repeatable and scalable winter programming model.
