Cultivating Consensus – A Long-Range Vision

Winner

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Patterson Club’s Long-Range planning journey toward the NextGen Campus Improvement Project is rooted in more than a decade of sustained investment and strategic foresight. Over the past 15 years, the Club advanced major upgrades - including a new paddle hut, service enhancements, racquets and pool renovations, and the establishment of a strong rainy day fund - all without imposing new assessments on members. The 2022 Ten-Year Plan reaffirmed the Club’s financial stability and highlighted deferred needs, including aging golf infrastructure and outdated practice facilities, making it clear that the time for a generational upgrade had arrived.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Member feedback has been a guiding force throughout the planning process. Insights from three comprehensive member surveys (2014, 2021, and 2024), combined with direct engagement across 42 briefing sessions attended by nearly 200 members, shaped the priorities of the Long-Range Planning Team - a group representing diverse membership segments. This inclusive and iterative process emphasized deep listening, transparent communication, and responsiveness to member questions and concerns, with a commitment that no question goes unaddressed. The vote on the NextGen Campus Improvement Project Proposal saw exceptionally strong engagement, with 80% of eligible members casting ballots. Of those participants, an impressive 79.5% voted in favor of the Proposal, demonstrating broad support for moving the project forward.
