Idea Fair

Beer Pairing Dinner in the Igloos

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

While igloos aren’t the first thing that come to mind in the summer, we wanted to make use of this winter amenity when it was least expected. With this in mind, the idea of an outdoor beer dinner was born. It was a four-course meal and was capped at 40 people who were able to enjoy outdoor dining in a new and unexpected way.

While the weather forecast was in our favor that week, the evening of the event ended up being hot! Since sudden changes in weather are something you learn to roll with as a Midwesterner, we quickly pivoted and moved the dining tables outside of the igloos as you see in the photos.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

With the help of the superintendent and his crew, we set the igloos up as the majority of play wrapped up for the day. From there, the events team took over and decorated and set up each dining table. Chef and his team also created a perfectly paired meal the members raved about.

Each time the igloos are set up it creates quite a buzz. Members who are cruising through the neighborhood will often see them on the course and pop in to see what’s happening around their club It also served as a great way to introduce the igloos to many of our new members, helping drive home the year round amenities offered at the club.
