Director Development Program

Winner

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Houston Racquet Club’s Fitness and Aquatics Department Director in Development Program (DID) is designed to introduce Fitness Managers to the private Club fitness and spa industry and prepare them to assume the role of Fitness Director or Assistant Fitness Director. The DID program is 12 months in length and requires a minimum of 40 paid hours each week in the role of a Fitness Center Manager in Training.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The DID program was put together month by month and each month has specific goals and trainings to complete through the CMAA University and CSFA training and certification programs. The trainings consisted of Customer Service, Human Resources, Finance, Health & Well-being, and an in-depth dive into Leadership and Management Programs. The Director of Fitness oversees each process by meeting monthly with the DID candidate. The candidate was able to provide crucial feedback to allow for revisions and make the program even stronger. We are excited to see our Mid-Managers grow significantly and be our next generation of leaders!
