Idea Fair

Display Cabinet

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Last June, LCC briefly closed the clubhouse due to concerns over COVID19. During the closure General Manager/COO, Leon Crimmins asked the F&B staff the question, what can we do to the clubhouse and its operation to create a "buzz" when we reopen? There was a glass enclosed trophy cabinet in the hallway leading to the main dining room that was filled with old trophies. We decided to create an upscale Bourbon Program and display the bourbons in the glass cabinet. We purchased a Blanton's Half Barrell Stopper Display to be the focal point and surrounded it with the new bourbon selections including Angels Envy, Blade and Bow, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses Small Batch, I.W.Harper, Oceans, Willett and Woodford Double Oaked.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Members cannot enter the main dining room without passing the display cabinet. It became an immediate talking point of interest among the membership. We developed a video with Assistant Clubhouse Manager, Jack Bingham, explaining the new program and included the video in the club's weekly eblast and on the website. The club's bourbon sales soared upon re-opening. Now when a Member orders from the club's select bourbon menu, they receive their libation in a logo Long Cove Club bourbon glass accompanied with a round ice sphere. The logo glasses are also now available for purchase in the Golf Pro Shop.
