Idea Fair

Elm Tree Legacy

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

In the courtyard of our Weyhill Guest House, stood a 150-year-old elm tree that was a focal point of the property and holds a special place in the membership's heart. In 2018 the elm tree was afflicted with elm tree disease, necessitating its removal. We repurposed the lumber from this venerable tree to craft various items, including a custom Martin Guitar, frames for Club photos, and crafting charcuterie boards to sell to members, prioritizing member who were married under the tree.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The charcuterie boards sold out within ten minutes, proving to be a highly successful venture. Additionally, this initiative serves as a promising model for repurposing lumber from future tree removals
