Far and Wide: Added Twist to Member Communication

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

People love to see themselves “in print,” and we love for members to read our communications – our “Far and Wide” contest creates a perfect match! In an effort to reach more members with our monthly Golf Talk blast, we issued our members a challenge: Send us your picture wearing CCV logo apparel and be entered in our "Far and Wide" contest. Tell us where and when the photo was taken, and the picture locale farthest away from Richmond will win a prize.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The prize is typically a sleeve of golf balls – that was all it took! The contest increased the readership of our digital newsletter, which contains important information on events and promotions in our department. It also has the added benefit of engaging members who may not be very interested in golf… everyone wants to win a contest! Each month, members comment on who won the contest and staff have been able to ask members about their time away from the Club. This was a fun, exciting, and inexpensive way to get members involved.
