Holiday Concert Series

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

For the past 10 years we've held a holiday concert at our Arlington VA clubhouse every December. Entertainers who've participated include The Vienna Boys Choir (3 times), The Irish tenors (twice), The Children's Chorus of Washington, The Choral Arts Societ of Washington and The Washington Chorus. Members looks forward to these concerts throughout the year and they've become the highlight of our holiday season activities

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The concerts are typically booked at least 12 months out as the entertainers are popular and busy during the holidays. We hold a ticket lottery in November prior to the concert which is always oversubscribed and members who win tickets pick them up at our front desk 'will call' window during the lead up to the concert. The day of the concert we set out 500+ chairs theatre style in our ballroom and number the chairs/name the rows. Members arrive up to 60 minutes before we open the doors to the ballroom and enjoy a themed buffet in one of our restaurants. The holiday concert has become one of our most anticipated member events and the reaction from members is always 'Wow, how do you do it'!
