Idea Fair

Intern Bingo

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

There are countless learning and engagement opportunities throughout an intern’s time at MPCC, but the summer flies by and sometimes it is easy to forget all that was accomplished.

Intern Bingo was created as a fun and competitive way to get interns excited about all the opportunities ahead for a great summer, while also providing a way to reflect on their experience at the end of the program. The goal was that every square had photo evidence of completion come the end of the summer.

The Bingo Board was comprised of squares that interns would be scheduled to complete both inside and outside of the Club, such as a resume workshop, pickleball lesson, and local club tours. Other squares were designed to push interns out of their comfort zone and allow them to take initiative to complete, such as finding a new favorite restaurant in Charlotte, grabbing coffee with one of our managers, or setting up a one-on-one meeting with a manager of their choice.

This allowed the interns to work together to complete the Bingo Board – not everyone had to complete every square, but everyone must be on the board at least twice. Towards the end of the summer, they were collaborating and setting intention to finish the project.

The large bingo board was hung up in the internship director’s office, where interns could print off photos and post them in their respective squares. We were all excited to take a celebratory photo once complete!

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

This was implemented by gathering feedback from our management team: what did they feel was important for an intern to complete during their program? What were some fun ideas they could suggest to encourage interns to strengthen their network both inside and outside of clubs, as well as explore our wonderful city? Our communications director then created the visual board and it hung in the intern director’s office for the entire summer.

This was a huge hit with both our interns as well as our management team. Our interns felt competitive and wanted to ensure they completed the board, and it encouraged them to take initiative throughout their program. Our management team was excited and constantly would ask interns if they could help them to complete any of the squares. Overall it was a hit and will be returning in 2024!
