Idea Fair

Let's Set the Record Straight

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Golfers made Farmington history last summer at the East Course Record Day. After months of deliberating how to unveil Farmington's new 10-hole hybrid short course to the members, a record day event was chosen for the occasion.

The long awaited Coore & Crenshaw designed course opened for a once-in-a-lifetime day of golf on June 24, 2017.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Tee times began at 9:00 a.m. with the higher golf handicaps going first and the lower handicaps going last. Each time the course record was broken a picture of the participant was taken holding their score.

The photos were compiled into a collage and put on display in the Golf Performance Center. The record holders were included in the following month's newsletter.

Members were thrilled to participate, and raved about the experience of being the first people to play the new course. The East Course Record Day provided fantastic exposure for the new golf course, and was well received by those who participated.
