Light Up the Night! Glow Pickleball Adds a New Layer of Fun
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Even with already strong participation in pickleball, it is important that we maintain interest and keep our Members engaged. Our Glow Pickleball event added a new, fun element to the game that all Members seemed to love. What stood out most was how it crossed over into different levels of players and even non-players. We had over 100 Members attend, many of whom came just to watch, socialize, and be part of the atmosphere.
This event is something we will continue annually as our kickoff party, and it will also be added permanently to our social calendar. We are already discussing ways to make it even better next year, including enhancements to lighting, layout, and the overall experience.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The implementation for this event was done entirely in-house, no outside vendors were used. We purchased over 40 black lights to illuminate the courts and surrounding areas. The biggest logistical challenge was cord management, which required careful planning for safety and coverage. We tested the courts over two days prior to the event to ensure we had adequate lighting and that all taped court lines were clearly visible and sufficient for play.
The energy and engagement throughout the evening was outstanding, and the feedback afterward was overwhelmingly positive. It truly became a club-wide social event with some Members commenting that it was one of the best events of the year.
