Idea Fair

Liveball!!!

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Liveball is a fast-paced, social doubles format for tennis wherein a coach feeds balls to a challenging team to win three points before the champions win two points. The coach feeds each ball the second the last point ends, making it feel like one long point. Because it moves so quickly, and is flexible with levels and number of players, it is easy to organize, fun to run, and profitable for the club. This has been a gateway for many new members to get into tennis!

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Although our club already had liveball classes when I arrived as Director two years ago, I put a special emphasis on running these classes well. We have gone from offering 2 classes/week, to over 20 classes/week. We have incorporated it into many of our other larger club events, like Memorial Day and Labor Day. Members have loved it and the mixing of matching of levels and genders helps people to get to know people beyond their normal tennis partners.
