Idea Fair
Local Outings for Interns!
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Country Club of Buffalo offers a robust rotational internship program each summer. Six students work through the program, which includes rotations through each department and a primary focus in Food & Beverage each summer. The internship program has proven successful in many regards, principally fostering interest in the industry and professional growth for the leaders of tomorrow, but also serving as a training ground for future supervisors and managers at CCB. To the uninitiated, Buffalo may not seem like the most desirable location, but we make it a point to show our interns all the area has to offer through outings to local events and attractions!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The idea has been supported by our membership at a high level, with House Committee and Board Members creating welcome baskets full of local goodies, as well as donating tickets to experiences for the group. There is an understanding from the membership, that we all benefit through the success of the Internship Program. Interns prove to be highly engaged and passionate employees that deliver great service, and many will return after graduation for full time roles. Currently four former interns are employed in various roles at the Club!
