Member Employee Outing

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Member–Employee Outing is an annual June tradition designed to start the season on a positive note and strengthen the culture of Horseshoe Bay. Employees participate free of charge, and each staff member is paired with a club member for an 18-hole round. This event builds meaningful staff–member connections, encourages cross-department friendships, and creates a sense of belonging, especially for our seasonal and international employees who are just arriving for the summer. For many staff, this outing serves as their first true introduction to golf, helping them better understand the sport that defines much of our members’ experience. This year, 34% of our staff participated, highlighting its growing impact on engagement and club culture.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The outing is hosted in a fun, approachable format that prioritizes camaraderie over competition, making it enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels. Members appreciate the opportunity to get to know the team in a relaxed setting, and the event continues to receive strong positive feedback for how it deepens relationships and strengthens the sense of community within the club. Beginning in 2026, we are further investing in this tradition by collecting dedicated sets of golf clubs exclusively for staff use, ensuring more employees can fully participate and feel confident engaging in the sport. Previously, we have allowed staff to use demo sets available to give first-timers the opportunity to participate. In 2026, we are committing to hosting a donation drive through our membership to grow our club inventory. This will allow more employees to participate, without the limitation of access to golf clubs. Members have been incredibly supportive of this commitment, recognizing the value it brings to both staff morale and member experience.
