Mirasol Junior Academy

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Mirasol Junior Academy is a program developed by our team of Golf Professionals to introduce the game of golf to new players and improve skills for individuals already familiar with the game.

The program is divided into 5 different levels based on experience, handicap and goals.

Level 1: New to Golf - This introductory level is for individuals with the desire to learn and play the game of golf.

Level 2: Golf Improver - This level is designed for juniors who have played the game, and received some sort of prior formal instruction. It is for individuals looking to fine tune their game and develop additional skills.

Level 3: Golf Intermediate - The third level is for juniors who have competed in tournaments before and are looking to continue to compete in tournament golf.

Level 4: Advanced - The Advanced level of classes is made for players who compete regularly and who are looking to play high school and collegiate golf.

Level 5: Elite Invitation - The final level of our Junior Academy is available through invite only. It is designed for the most experienced and talented players looking to take their potential to the next level.

Our Junior Academy has been available to the membership since the beginning of the 2018-2019 season. We believe we have created a program that accurately gauges a players talent and experience level to appropriately place them in a level of training to help them both improve their golf skills and enjoy the game with individuals of similar skill levels. Many children are looking to compete in tournaments and dream of playing professionally, which makes the academy the perfect place to learn, improve and foster those dreams.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The idea of the Mirasol Junior Academy was implemented at the start of the 2018-2019 season with the help of Suzy Whaley, our new Director of Instruction. It was communicated to the membership through many emails, informational pamphlets and in person at the pro shop. The installment of the academy has been very well received by the membership, both the parents or grandparents and the children participating. The kids are excited to be playing the adults are equally as excited to watch them participate and engage with kids their age.
