Idea Fair

NCAA Tournament Bracket Challenge

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

In 2018, the University of Virginia men’s basketball team entered the NCAA Basketball Tournament as its number one seed. Local enthusiasm was at an all-time high and the Grill at Farmington gave its members the ability to both watch the games and participate in the ever-popular ESPN Tournament Challenge. The Grill set up a private bracket entry for its members and awarded winners with food prizes. Both the men’s and the women’s NCAA tournament games were included in the Grill’s activities.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The response was overwhelming. The Grill was filled with members and their families throughout the entire tournament. And even though the UVA Cavaliers were knocked out during the first round, over 80 participants kept up with the tournament bracket. The Grill plans to increase its promotional efforts in anticipation of the 2019 season.
