New Employee Happy Hours

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We really want our culture to shine on day one, so part of the onboarding process includes inviting families or friends of new hires to a New Employee Happy Hour. Included in the happy hour is also a new card with welcoming messages to the new family.
We want our employees and their families to know what a great place their loved one is going to work in. Including them early in the process helps families unfamiliar with country clubs to better understand the new workplace and helps us solidify our number one culture priority, building relationships and experience for both members and employees.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The practice began last year and has been periodically scheduled to include multiple new employees at the same time for maximum participation rates. We highly encourage all staff to attend the event to create a group welcoming feeling for each new hire and their families. Club members are encouraged to attend these events and high value members such as board or committee members are often there to help us in the process. Our members who witness what we perform at these welcoming happy hours have appreciated and thank us for performing these events.
