Once Upon a Gingerbread Village

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The holiday season is always a special time here at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. So many of our members bring in there family in friends to witness our 30ft tree that is trucked in from teh Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Where it is raised tot he rafters and elegantly decorations by our very own staff. The Gingerbread Village was just the icing on top of our club transformation during the holidays. IT is very magical to see all generations enjoy this creative and beautiful display. We love hearing comments from the our members of how it brought back to many members of seeing these art pieces on teh window sill of local shops. This is an event most definitely continue to do over and over again.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The preparation began in the summer of 2017 with the conceptualizing and design of the village, Building began in September and continued all the way up to its anticipated reveal at our annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The Village featured a courthouse, school, tavern, three mansions, three smaller homes, electric train, a giant chocolate mountain with a tunnel, ice skating, and a magical carousel, all which were made with 100% edible ingredients. The village used over 300 pounds of powdered sugar, 160 pounds of gingerbread, and more than 20 pounds of sprinkles.
