Idea Fair

Paddle Promo Hub

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

With dozens of programs happening at BHYC every month, the Communications Department was looking for a solution to the influx of flyers. Each committee that holds events relies on flyer-type promotions to circulate and get the word out about their events. Similarly, staff-run events and departments are doing the same. This winter, with the opening of The Cottage & Court Yard, Communications Director Tyler DeFilippo came up with the idea to create a promotion “hub” to test out during the paddle season to decrease the production of flyers and make it easier for members to find pertinent information in the same decorative way that a flyer would.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The Paddle Hub is an aesthetically designed digital brochure that features several pages of programs with active links to the website or registration page. Having one location for all the promotions and necessary information pertaining to one specific segment of the Club (i.e. Paddle Tennis) allows for them all to be designed the same way, limiting time spent on “creativity” and making the design recognizable by those looking for them. It also allows for the members to find the event information in one central location, and makes it easier for the staff to update information as it changes without having to replace the physical flyer in numerous locations, both digitally and physically.

A QR code “flyer” is a single flyer that is placed in the paddle and racquet areas and allows members to scan it to find the Hub. It is still eye-catching and attractive, like the original flyers. It also allows the Communications Department to update the Hub without replacing the QR code.

Members have found this process to be very user-friendly and easy to circulate between each other as it is a more accessible link. The Communications Department plans on implementing this through more committees.
