Idea Fair

Pumpkin Splash

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Creating engaging, family-focused experiences is a key priority at Broken Sound Club. With that in mind, our team challenged itself to reinvent a traditional fall activity in a way that felt unexpected and perfectly aligned with our warm-weather setting. The result was a Floating Pumpkin Patch—an imaginative event that transformed the pool into a lively, interactive space filled with excitement, creativity, and connection.

By blending innovation with cross-department teamwork, Broken Sound Club redefined a seasonal classic and delivered a memorable poolside experience. The event fostered stronger connections among members, encouraged families to participate together, and highlighted the club’s commitment to thoughtful, engaging programming—demonstrating how familiar traditions can be reimagined to create meaningful, elevated experiences.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Children jumped into the pool to choose their pumpkins while parents looked on, laughed, and joined in the moment, immediately energizing the pool environment. Following the swim, families gathered on the pool deck to decorate their pumpkins, enjoy festive music, themed refreshments, and embrace a cheerful atmosphere that captured the essence of the season.

Watching children’s excitement as they splashed into the pool was a highlight of the day and reinforced the impact of the experience.

The event was made possible through collaboration across multiple departments. The Youth, Aquatics, and Culinary teams worked together to convert the pool and surrounding deck into a floating pumpkin patch complete with seasonal décor, photo moments, and specialty snacks. The teamwork was evident throughout the event, creating a vibrant and positive energy that resonated with members.

By the end of the day, “Who knew pumpkins could float?” had become the unofficial slogan—perfectly reflecting the surprise, delight, and lasting impression of an event members continue to talk about.
