Idea Fair
Racquet Sports Code of Conduct Cards
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
As junior players move into team match play, competitive tennis can feel overwhelming—especially for those without prior experience. To help ease that transition, the Racquet Sports team developed Racquet Sports Code of Conduct Cards as a simple, pocket-sized reference for junior players.
The cards provide clear guidance on match basics and expectations while reinforcing the Club’s values of sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie. By giving juniors something tangible to reference on court, the program reduces uncertainty, builds confidence, and creates a consistent standard for behavior and etiquette across all junior matches. The result is a more positive experience for players, parents, and coaches alike.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Code of Conduct Cards were distributed to all junior team tennis players at the start of the spring season. Each card outlines key match fundamentals—such as calling the score, making line calls, handling disagreements, and demonstrating good sportsmanship—particularly important in junior matches where players often compete without a referee.
Member response has been very positive. Juniors feel more confident knowing what’s expected of them on court, parents appreciate the emphasis on fairness and sportsmanship, and coaches have found it easier to reinforce expectations consistently. Over time, the cards have become both a practical learning tool and a shared symbol of team identity within the junior program.
