Idea Fair

Scanning for Success

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Monitoring inventory levels is a challenge for every retail space, both what you have on display and what you have stored away. In an effort to resolve this challenge, we started utilizing QR Codes that toggle to a Google spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is broken down by storage box numbers the SKUs/quantities contained in each box, allowing for an employee to quickly see what is available if a member requests a product not on the floor, as well as assisting with monthly inventory counts. If an item is removed for sale, the Retail Manager is made aware and adjusts the count for that item.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

This system is primarily used for soft good products that rotate seasons. Benefits of using this type of tracking system range from more accurate inventory counts to immediate member sales to more accurate ordering when product is running low. It takes some type to set up and get employees accustomed to using the codes, but ultimately a win for both members and employees.
