Social Programs

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

After Hurricane Irma hit South Florida many roads were impassible and businesses were closed. Woodfield luckily did not sustain significant damage and was able to partially open two days after the storm. Instead of limping through the post storm week with modified and limited offerings for members, we developed a social program for members of all ages to enjoy throughout the week. Stir crazy children were able to enjoy a Movie Night and Glow Party while parents needing a break from the stress and work that post storm clean up brings were able to relax at our Social Mixer.

While some normal offerings and amenities were unavailable during the week due to storm clean up, we more than made up for it with activities that brought the community together and kept the membership actively engaged in the Club.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Management met immediately after the storm to discuss possible social programs that could be implemented with limited resources. Management also had to pay close attention to local curfews and ensure events ended in time for employees to make it home before curfew. Activities that provided the largest wow factor and broadest appeal were selected for implementation. The events were swiftly planned and confirmed, then marketed to the membership. The events were highly attended and the membership loved being able to come together and enjoy the Club in the midst of the post storm clean up.

Post Storm Events: Kids’ Movie Night, Adult Social Mixer, Poolside Music, Kids’ Glow Party, Family Fitness Fun Day, Lunch & Dinner Buffets.
