Idea Fair

Stranger Things Teen Halloween at Charlotte Country Club

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The idea has significantly enhanced our operations by boosting teen engagement and overall excitement. By creating themed events and activities that genuinely interest teens, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in participation. Collaborating with surrounding area clubs has also helped drive greater turnout for our teen events.

Our Stranger Things–themed Teen Halloween was a great example of this success. The theme made teens feel seen and excited, and they loved the unique experiences—like indoor skating, which we had never done before, and walking through a truly scary haunted house. The addition of several prize giveaways was also a huge hit.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

We have hosted several teen events in the past, but attendance was never very strong. This year, Jen—our Director of Youth Activities—suggested making the event Stranger Things–themed, and together we brainstormed exciting activities we had never done before. The event featured blacklight roller skating, an “Upside Down”–themed haunted house, arcade games, a screening of the show, and a build-your-own boba drink station.

Having multiple interactive activities kept our energetic teens engaged and entertained throughout the night. We also introduced a raffle system where teens earned a ticket for every friend they brought, along with a costume contest, which greatly increased participation and excitement.

We received wonderful feedback from parents, many of whom shared how much fun their children had and eagerly requested photos from the event. In total, 110 teens attended, more than double our typical turnout from previous years.
