Student Internship Program

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Santaluz Club’s Student Internship Program was developed to cultivate the next generation of hospitality and club management professionals. This 10-week rotational program immerses interns in all facets of club operations — from Food & Beverage and Golf Operations to Accounting, Human Resources, and Leadership.

By providing hands-on experience across departments, our interns gain a holistic understanding of private club management and develop practical leadership skills. The program has strengthened collaboration among our department leaders, as they take active roles in mentoring and teaching these future professionals.

We have now proudly hosted interns from The University of Michigan and Penn State both of whom completed their internships elated with their experience. Beyond benefiting the interns, the program enhances the Club’s culture of learning, mentorship, and excellence. It has improved departmental communication, inspired innovation, and created a talent pipeline for future leadership within our industry.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

We began by bringing our leadership team together to share the vision for the internship program. Each department director committed to mentoring a student for one week, offering hands-on exposure to the daily operations and leadership responsibilities within their area.

Our first internship was pioneered by a student from the University of Michigan, who documented his experience each day. His feedback allowed us to refine and strengthen the program into the structured rotation model we use today.

Member feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. They enjoy seeing the students’ enthusiasm, growth, and engagement throughout the summer, and many take pride in supporting the development of the next generation of hospitality leaders.
