Idea Fair

Team Building Field Day

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Team Building Field Day enhanced club operations by strengthening cross-department relationships and communication. By mixing departments into teams with executive and manager “coaches,” staff built trust and returned to shifts more connected and collaborative. It also boosted morale at the end of the season, creating a shared, positive experience that supports retention and reinforces a strong service culture.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Two weeks prior, HR formed mixed-department teams and assigned an executive Head Coach and a manager Assistant Coach. Teams chose a color, built hype ahead of time, then competed in fun games (sack races, tug-of-war, dizzy bat, etc.) with food and drinks afterward.

Staff loved it, lots of laughter, high energy, and friendly competition. Most said it helped them connect with other departments and boosted camaraderie to close out the summer season. Even club members who passed by saw staff smiling and engaged, reflecting the club’s values and commitment to a great member experience.
