The Allergy Burgee

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Food & Beverage team has created an "Alert System" for staff when a member has food allergies. An immediate, non-verbal way to notify all employees of a persons allergies was the challenge. This burgee is placed on the the members table in the dining room and this alerts all staff a person at the table has a food allergy- check the member profile in the P.O.S. for details. This system has eliminated "near misses" with serving members food they are allergic to and has created confidence with the service staff from the membership. Any service support team member working is aware of what the burgee represents and its purpose.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The Food & Beverage Management team worked closely with several parents of children that have severe allergies. The management team wanted a way to reduce/eliminate interruptions from staff requesting information that was already in member profiles each time a new employee was hired. Member preferences and allergies are able to be inputted into our Point of Sale system. Whenever that member number is used, a warning message appears on the screen for the server.

After using the burgee for three months, members have expressed their confidence of the staffs awareness and enjoy the decorative table burgee.
