How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
To encourage our members to experience fitness at a whole new level, the DAC created the Edge—The Ultimate Team Challenge, featuring group exercise, nutrition, wellness and recovery, along with challenges designed to push them to—yes—the edge.
This team challenge allowed members to not only push their competitive nature but also to do so while being accountable to their team and with the guidance of a coach.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Because what constitutes “effort” is different for all of us, the program measures the success rate of participants by using Myzone heart monitors, which measure effort based on how hard the heart is working, not on the participant’s current fitness level.
Besides the physical and cardiovascular workouts, we added a phase focused on nutrition and taught members how to recover by using compression, cryogenics, percussion therapy, red-light therapy and other modalities for the mind and body to heal.
