The Reset Project

Winner

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

To organize the banquet operation and resets during busy season, we reimagined our reset planning by utilizing a whiteboard from campus. Using the BEO packet, we map out the resets for the upcoming week, divided out by day, with magnetic pictures of plates, silverware, glasses, and napkin colors. We also record the number of attendees, the room location, and any other items that may need to be pulled for the event. This was helpful for even the newest banquet teammate to pull resets for future events or set tables for events.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The implementation of the reset board Involved input from our banquet captain, who has been on the team for over 17 years. We printed, laminated, and magnetized all of the plates, silverware, and wine glasses on the board so they could be easily reused. The team has quickly grown fond of the reset board. When setting tables, they can quickly reference the board for what should be pulled and how it should be set. The team also notes when something is pulled and set, so that things are not done twice.

For the management team, we can efficiently change the board from week to week, as all the pieces are magnetized and reusable. We can also empower our team to reset and set rooms more efficiently, as they have all the information in front of them. Planning the board also allows the management team to remain organized, ensure that resets are pulled and rooms are set ahead of time, and give the banquet team tasks to do in their downtime so they can see what still needs to be pulled for the week.
