The Tin Man Competition

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Tin Man is a unique event that incorporates sporting clays, paddle tennis and golf into a team competition, which determines the "Ultimate Weekend Warriors." 20 two man teams earn points participating in each event, and then finish the day with an awards ceremony, and world class steak dinner. The event has proven successful in exposing members to paddle tennis and sporting clays, as both sports have seen a dramatic increase in participation. Another benefit of the Tin Man, has been new friendships being formed as competitors seek out partners with complimentary skill sets.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The event was brought to us by the Sporting Clays Committee Chair. The management team worked closely with the committee to plan the schedule of events and other logistics. The first event was held in October 2020, and was well received. Details were tweaked in 2021, based on some lessons learned.  The event sold out in less than 24 hours this year, and we are looking forward to offering the event again in 2022 and beyond.
