At Maryland Golf and Country Clubs, we have adopted a tribe mentality instead of a team mentality. This has resulted in:
- Improved efficiencies have resulted in increased wages and salary increases
- Increased engagement among managers and manager-to-manager support
- Low turnover
- Remained fully staffed during a pandemic
- Worked as a tribe to address recruitment, employee development, and toxic employees
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Managers participate in a Tribal Council every two weeks. Issues and challenges are openly discussed to get input and insight from fellow managers. By having a more efficient tribe and managers engaging with other managers in resolving issues, our staff across all departments can better serve our members, thus increasing member satisfaction.
