Turn Back the Clock!
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
By reopening the Men’s Locker Room Grill, an area closed as a dining space to the general membership for over a decade, the event unlocked a meaningful asset that many members remembered fondly but had not experienced in years. Repurposing this space demonstrated operational creativity and flexibility, showing that existing Club facilities can be thoughtfully reimagined to create impactful experiences without new construction or expansion.
From a culinary and service perspective, the event reinforced the depth and consistency of MRGC’s food-and-beverage program. Recreating dishes from the 2013 menu required careful research, training, and execution, allowing the culinary team to showcase both technical skill and respect for the Club’s culinary heritage. Vintage pricing added a sense of value while reinforcing the authenticity of the experience.
Operationally, the event also encouraged cross-team collaboration and attention to detail, from staff uniforms to tableside service. It strengthened storytelling within the Club, reminding members that MRGC’s excellence is rooted in a rich history while continuing to evolve.
Overall, Turn Back the Clock elevated member engagement, maximized use of existing spaces, reinforced brand heritage, and demonstrated that honoring the past can be a powerful tool for delivering memorable, modern experiences.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Turn Back the Clock was implemented through thoughtful planning, historical research, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure the experience felt both authentic and elevated.
The team began by revisiting past menus, recipes, and pricing from the Men’s Locker Room Grill’s final years of operation. The culinary team recreated “throwback” dishes with a focus on authenticity while maintaining today’s execution standards. Front-of-house staff were trained on the history of the space and menu items and dressed in old-school uniforms to fully immerse members in the experience. The room itself was styled to highlight its original character, allowing the venue to feel familiar and nostalgic rather than staged.
Reservations were limited to preserve the intimate feel of the space, and service elements such as tableside Caesar salads reinforced the traditional dining style that members remembered. Vintage pricing was clearly communicated as part of the concept, helping members immediately connect the value to the era being celebrated.
Member reaction was overwhelmingly positive and deeply emotional. Many attendees shared stories and memories from past years at the Club, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to revisit a space and menu they thought were gone for good. Members praised the authenticity, attention to detail, and respect shown to the Club’s history.
The event sparked conversation across the membership, with strong demand for repeat evenings and similar nostalgia-based programming. Turn Back the Clock successfully reaffirmed members’ pride in MRGC’s legacy while delivering an experience that felt meaningful, personal, and unforgettable.
