Jeff Morgan 2018CEO’s Perspective: Hospitality Trend Takeaways from Marriott
Hello CMAA members! CMAA is a wonderful community of sharing and vehicles like the Idea Fair at World Conference; member articles in Club Management magazine; and Chapter events are among the opportunities when you learn from each other. You leverage ideas from other clubs and make them your own. For association professionals, it is the same, as we share freely with each other in many of the same forums and leverage those ideas for your benefit. This past month, I attended an event for key Marriott association customers. For me, this event helps me to see what is happening behind the scenes at Marriott regarding meetings, hotel properties, and other trends that we should know are possibly in our future. This year was particularly interesting as it was focused on the future of meetings and an early look at how Marriott is preparing for what’s next. I want to share a few of my takeaways because, as club professionals, I think it is important to always look at what others are doing in the hospitality area. Read more from President & CEO Jeff Morgan, FASAE, CAE.

Encourage Your Wellness Team to Join CSFA
The time is now to put the Club Spa & Fitness Association (CSFA) on your radar!

July 1 marks the mid-year for CSFA membership, and at that time all new-joining members will pay half-year dues. Please consider encouraging someone on your club’s wellness team to join – doing so is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to truly stretch your club’s operational muscles AND help elevate your team’s success!

Like your CMAA membership, membership in CSFA provides access to tailored professional development resources and networking opportunities that only a professional association can offer. CSFA members receive timely research reports, insights from in and around the industry, and online and in-person education opportunities.

Members also benefit from a strong professional network that allows them to compare notes with their club industry peers and know what your members need before they ask. Your members demand a lot from you. You demand more … of yourself, and your team. Are you ready to do this? We are. Bring it on!

But wait, there’s more...

July 22-24 is CSFA’s Annual Conference & Corporate Partner Showcase, to be held at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL. Please consider sending someone on your team and/or attending yourself – all CSFA events offer CMAA credit opportunity!

From 11 hours of continuing education/credits to the Corporate Partner Showcase, this is an event not to be missed! The CSFA room block at Ocean Reef Club will close on June 22, and Conference registration will close on July 10. Are you ready to refresh your batteries and recharge your minds? We are. Let’s Talk Club Management Ep. 14 – Building a Winning Team
This month, we're talking about the many different elements necessary to build an effective, cohesive, winning club management team. We sat down with Joe Basso, MCM, CCE, CMAA Fellow, to discuss his Master Club Manager Monograph: Building Bridges: Working with the Golf Management Team - but the conversation transcended the golf team and we found some tenets that are applicable to the management team as a whole.

Then, we chatted with John Embree, CEO of the USPTA and learned a bit about the exciting changes happening with USPTA's certification process - and what the expanded education requirements will mean for clubs. Finally, we chatted with Paul Bovenzi of Myers Park Country Club about their Business Unit Review, a winning Idea Fair entry. It's a jam-packed episode you don't want to miss!
